IMPORTANT NEWS FOR VEGETARIANS!

I realise I may be a little behind the times with this, but I've only just heard the shocking news. Mars confectionary, produced by Masterfoods,
will not be vegetarian
as of the beginning of this month. This is a ridiculous and unnecessary move which will automatically restrict their market for these products - it doesn't make sense economically, let alone morally and ethically.

That they have decided not to put notices at point-of-sale also makes me feel incredibly uncomfortable. I've just checked the label on the Twix I have in my bag, and am relieved to discover that it carries a Best Before date of 30/9/07 - anything after 1/10/07 will have been manufactured with animal rennet products from the new supplier. What I can't check though, is anything I've eaten in the past couple of weeks. I'm trying to remember, and reassure myself, but I can't help feeling slightly sick.

Please pass this information on to any of your vegetarian friends who may not have heard the news. The Vegetarian Society has contact information for Masterfoods, if you would like to email or phone them to help get this illogical decision overturned.

This is a list of the 50 most significant science fiction/fantasy novels, 1953-2002, according to the Science Fiction Book Club. Bold the ones you've read, strike-out the ones you hated, italicize those you started but never finished, and put an asterisk beside the ones you loved.
I'm going to underline those I fully intend to read, as well. If anyone feels like lending them to me...?

Was sent this by my friend B, who's currently 11 weeks pregnant and in and out of hospital with hyperemesis (severe vomiting and dehydration).

At least she's getting enough junk emails to keep her spirits up...Collapse )

And here's a colour bar I've been wanting to make for ages but never seemed to find the time (can you tell I have a deadline?)...

Won't be around for a couple of weeks, off to Romania in the morning until 17th September. Will post if there's internet available anywhere, but other than that, brace yourselves for a mega-post when I return....

Two night shifts from Hell (no breaks; no naps; ready to drop by 5.30am and still 2 more hours to go), but I caught 3 more babies! A baby girl at 21.54 on 23rd, a baby boy at 03.22 on 24th, and another girl at 03.00 on 25th! And apparently it doesn't ever stop being scary...

So;

Babies caught: 4
Babies to go: 36

In other news, train tickets arrived for my various trips in August - off to visit digivamp on the 17th, to revisit all my old haunts down in Leicester (RIP Villiers, you will not be forgotten!), then off to Glasgow with piggy_diva on the 23rd to see the Rocky Horror Show! I'm a Rocky Horror virgin, but I'm getting my outfit together and I'll be rewatching the film a couple of times before we go. Watch this space for photographic evidence and depravity (and photos from Rocky Horror, too)...

Well, I think this woman and her husband may have had something to do with it, but I caught it! Yay me!

Too tired and braindead to add more details, but woo! A baby!

So the official countdown now reads:

Babies caught: 1

Babies to go: 39

And another shift tomorrow... Let's see what this one brings!
